Little Visitors
Posted by cdlsohio on July 25, 2007
Marci’s Daddy thought he had his bird feeder safe from critters by putting it on a metal TV tower. He was surprised to look out and see raccoons making themselves right at home. They have visited many times this summer. Marci could care less, but my husband and I sure have gotten some amusement out of them. They think our deck is their playground. Here is a couple snapshots I thought I would share.

How funny! They’re clever little things, aren’t they?

Karen,
They certainly are clever and very amusing to watch. We enjoy the wildlife around our home, but these little creatures have by far become our favorites.

Yikes! Four raccoons! We see them occasionally while we deliver papers at 4 am, and they scare me! They’re huge! I’m just waiting for one to attack me from out of some dark shadows. Ok, I know I worry about irrational things. I worry about mountain lions, too.
Great photos, Vicki.

Christy,
The yikes made me laugh. You should be afraid of any raccoons who are not afraid of you becuase if they are not afraid then they probably have rabies. These little varments are not afraid because they are used to us. They scurry away quickly if anyone shows up at our house. These little guys have been coming around since they were babies and they are certainly not tame, but are used to our scents and movements. John is their candyman…*grin* He leaves marshmellows for them. I have never known a raccoon to attack out of a shadow unless it was cornered, sick or threatened. You should be safe from the little bandits on your paper route BUT I can’t speak for the mountain lions. Good luck with that one!!!!

Hi Vicki! I wanted to pop in on your blog and say hi. How are you doing? How is Marci? It’s been forever since I’ve heard from you. Any more visits from the little deck critters?
